Time Together
Sarah Scarcliff
Good people
making the home about them still,
rock and rumble and I am free
here, I am cherished apart
as I stack brick and sling mortar for the
structure of our goodness
in the belly of it we curl together and spy
fireworks blister into space and time
slows for us to twist the hair around our fingers
and pluck dust from each other’s eyelashes,
it slows, we do these things because we must,
because it’s love, because we’re good.
