Faithful

Lex Mroczko

I’ve never been religious.

But I find myself
Before a kneel
Feeling ever so committed

He held my fate in his hands

From this day forward
I have to find my place
In this stained light

For better
I will be
For worse I can’t see
This existence around me

For richer he
Provides me
For poorer my logic
Drowns
At what cost
Is this credence

In sickness
This place heals me
Yet in health
It tears me down

To love I thought
Was their reason
But to cherish contempt
Of the people of His world
For sins they don’t understand—
I don’t understand

Till death do me part
This church is my life.
This hell is now his.
